During his long drumming career, Dirk Erchinger has played with many big names in the international music scene.
Following his studies at the Percussion Institute of Technology (PIT) in Los Angeles (´92/´93) he has played innumerous gigs and on dozens of CDs.
Dirk is the regular drummer of the German hiphop/jazz group 'Jazzkantine' (www.jazzkantine.de), the funk/soul act 'Count Basic' (Austria/ USA: www.countbasic.com) and the Berlin percussion band 'Drum Connection'(www.drumconnection.net).
Among those Dirk has collaborated with Gloria Gaynor, Kruder&Dorfmeister, Nana, Pee Wee Ellis, West Bam,Peter Fox Cunnie Williams, Such a Surge, Ophra Haza, Vannila Ninja, Inga Rumpf, Hamburg Blues Band, Naomi, The Wright Thing, Joe Whitney and the list continues…
With the Jazzkantine he recieved the biggest German music prize, the 'Echo' and the 'Jazz-Echo'.
In 2008 Dirk and Count Basic were awarded the Austrian ´Amadeus-Award´ for the best jazz & blues album.
On the Jazzkantine albums, he plays with artists like Ol` Dirty Bastard from Wu-Tang-Clan, Xavier Naidoo, Laith Al-Deen, Brixx, Till Brönner, Fred Wesley, Edo Zanki, Rias-Big Band, HR-Big Band or Smudo from the Fantastischen 4. Dirk has toured with various bands, travelling through Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA. With his business D-Phunk Musik, he has produced a number of solo albums as well as soundtracks for film, tv and advertising, working for clients like Senator Film, Sat 1, BMG, Volkswagen, Audi and others.
